United Domestic Workers of America
Who?
Started over 40 years ago by the followers of Cesar Chavez, UDW is a union that supports over 170,000 home care and child care providers in California who offer high-quality care to children, seniors, and people with disabilities.
What?
UDW came to us with a brand identity that no longer reflected the strength, history, or impact of its members. Their brand had to honor years of grassroots organizing while resonating with modern audiences and standing out in a competitive advocacy landscape. They sought a visual system that could unify their messaging across digital, print, and campaign channels while reinforcing their credibility with both the public and political leaders.
How?
Collaborated with UDW leadership and members to uncover the stories, values, and visual cues most meaningful to the community. Infused the identity with human-centered storytelling, typography and colors that historically reflected solidarity and resilience. This updated brand has been rolled out across campaigns, events, and advocacy materials, helping to build public support and influence political leaders’ understanding of the critical role home care and child care providers play in California’s communities.
Roles: Logo Designer, Brand Designer, Content Creator
This project wouldn't have been possible without Jordan Beyer, Bill Ferenc, Alex Pinnell, Katie Laird, Ali Bibbo, Jordan Spalding, Aaron Long and the incredible members of UDW who told their stories.
